Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Sunday said that Mahesh Bhatt will be summoned to record his statement in Sushant Singh Rajput death case. While the filmmaker will be questioned on Monday, Karan Johar's manager will be called for questioning later. The minister also said that Karan Johar can also be called to record his statement if required.
Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide on June 14. The actor's death re-started the nepotism and favouritism debate in Bollywood. Many celebrities took to social media to talk about nepotism in the Hindi film industry. Kangana Ranaut released a video to blame "Bollywood Mafia" for the Kai Po Che actor's death. She claimed that people like Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra bullied Sushant to death.
Mumbai Police recently summoned Kangana Ranaut to
record her statement in connection with the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput. The summon was sent to Kangana's Manali home, where she is currently staying with her family due to the coronavirus pandemic. Replying to the summon, the actress told Mumbai Police that she cannot travel to Mumbai from Manali due to the Covid-19 crisis.
Kangana Ranaut asked the police if it is possible for an officer to be sent at her Manali residence to record her statement. The statement, sent through her lawyer, also mentioned that if she could respond to the queries after they are sent to her. Another option given by the actress is that she could connect via some electronic medium and record her statement.
Mumbai Police has recorded the statement of around 41 people associated with Sushant Singh Rajput till now.
