The 46th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will be held in Abu Dhabi on the 1st and 2nd of next month. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will be the Guest of Honour and address the inaugural plenary.
She will attend the two-day meeting at the invitation by Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In a statement, the External Affairs Ministry said, India
considers the invitation as the desire of the enlightened leadership of the UAE to go beyond the rapidly growing close bilateral ties and forge a true multifaceted partnership at the multilateral and international level.
It said, New Delhi sees this invitation as a milestone in the comprehensive strategic partnership with the UAE and as a welcome recognition of the presence of 185 million Muslims in India and of their contribution to its pluralistic ethos and of India’s contribution to the Islamic world.
