Minister Sushma Swaraj met President of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in New Delhi
yesterday, who is on a three day visit to India.Mrs Swaraj reportedly highlighted
India-Egypt trade in the meeting which she said is still below the potential.
Mrs. Swaraj outlined some economic reforms and flagship initiatives launched by
India which offer enormous potential for further diversification of trade and
investment ties with Egypt. She said apart from rice, Egypt could also import
Indian wheat and milk, in which India is a world leader. She said that
the
visit of President Sisi also provided an opportunity to upgrade security ties
and anti-terror cooperation with the highly strategic African nation.
Mr. Sisi said, both the countries share centuries old ties which has remained resilient. He recalled his previous meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed his desire to take the bilateral relationship to a new level.
