Swacchata Hi Sewa Abhiyan 2024 will be celebrated from 17th September to 2nd October across the country. The theme for this year is Swabhav Swachhata-Sanskaar Swacchta. This event marks a significant milestone as the Swachh Bharat Mission celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.
At the curtain-raiser event, Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, announced that the government will transform 2 lakh Cleanliness Target Units (CTU) as part of this year’s campaign. He said that these CTU sites will be adopted by NGOs and various institutions at the district level
to ensure cleanliness. During the event, the minister also said that Safai Mitra Suraksha Camps will be organized to provide single-window services for the health and welfare of sanitation workers.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of Jal Shakti, C.R. Patil, said that the government has constructed 11 crore toilets since 2014, benefiting 60 crore people across the country. He added that over 3.4 crore villages are now ODF Plus. Mr. Patil also highlighted that last year, over 109 crore people participated in this event.
