The Tamil Nadu Assembly session begins today to discuss and pass the demands for grants for different departments of the state government.
The House Business Advisory Committee has decided to have the session till May 10th. The session is expected to witness heated debates as the opposition is likely to take up the recent property tax hike and a host of other issues in the House.
The present session comes close on the heels of the presentation of the state general budget in the
House on the 18th of last month, followed by the agriculture budget the next day.
This time, the Assembly will have a total of 22 sittings. An interesting feature is the debate on the demand for grants for the Home Department, a portfolio being held by chief minister MK Stalin, on the 7th May. He will reply to the debate and is also expected to make a slew of announcements.
The day coincides with his government stepping into its second year.
