After massive landslides hit Wayanad, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday announced Rs 5 crore financial assistance to the Kerala government. Besides, two senior IAS officers of the Tamil Nadu cadre have been appointed to assist in carrying out rescue and relief operations.
CM Stalin spoke to his Kerala counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan over the phone on Tuesday and assured him of assistance with rescue and relief operations.
A rescue team comprising 20 firefighters helmed by a deputy director, a 20-member State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team and a
10-member medical team was formed. The rescue teams have headed to Wayanad.
The Tamil Nadu chief minister expressed grief over the incident.
Taking to X, Stalin wrote, "Deeply pained to learn about the massive landslides in Wayanad and the consequent loss of priceless lives. I am given to understand that many people are still trapped in the area. I am sure the rescue operations that are in full swing will save them all. The government of Tamil Nadu is willing to extend any logistical or manpower support that may be needed in this hour of crisis to our brother state, Kerala."
