Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Government has increased the Dearness Allowance DA by 14-percent to the staff of the Public Distribution System outlets that are being run by the state cooperative societies.
The announcement comes into effect retrospectively from the 1st of January this year. This makes them at par with other
Government Department staff in terms of the DA.
Over 22,500 staff of the cooperatives-run ration shops will be benefited by the move. A statement from the state government says the hike in DA will lead to an increased expenditure of 73-crore rupees a year.
