Tamil Nadu Government has said the ‘Ease of Doing Business rankings of the state has leapfrogged to the third position in the country. Its release says the state has scored 99.67 percent marks, helping it to ascend to the position among the 31 states and union territories that participated in the rankings. It says the rank was 18 in 2016-17 and 14 in 2019.
The Union Department for
Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade proposed several reforms and the state industries and its related departments implemented 301 of them, leading to a higher score.
The single-window clearance system for industrial investments and the portal for Government-to-Business interactions have helped to get highly favourable feedback from the private industry.
