Tamil Nadu minister Senthil Balaji in five day custody of ED officials

Senthil Balaji, a minister in Tamil Nadu has been taken by the officials of the enforcement directorate into five day custody. Mr.Balaji who has been lodged in Puzhal Prison was taken a short while ago for interrogation to the office of the Enforcement directorate in Chennai.

The Minister is presently lodged in Puzhal Prison at Redhills near Chennai after taking treatment at Kauvery Hospital  for heart ailments after  his arrest



on June 14.

While dismissing the appeals put forth by the Minister and his wife, Megala challenging the Madras High Court's ruling that affirmed his arrest in a money laundering case, the bench of Justices ASBopanna and MM Sundaresh from the Supreme Court has however referred the issue of whether the police custody can extend beyond the initial 15 day remand period to a larger bench.
