Telangana CM KCR to leave for Maharashtra today

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, accompanied by his Cabinet colleagues and officials, would leave for Mumbai by a special flight on Monday to enter into agreements with his Maharashtra counterpart regarding the construction of five barrages on River Godavari and its tributaries on Tuesday.

State Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, Special Chief Secretary (Irrigation) S K Joshi and other senior irrigation officials are part of the delegation. The officials of the two states would sign agreements in the presence of KCR and his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra



Fadnavis.

Under the agreement, TS government would construct barrages - one on Pranahita river at Tummidihatti in Adilabad district and three on Godavari river at Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla under Kaleshwaram project in Karimnagar district. 

The Maharashtra government would construct barrages on Penganga at Rajapeta and Pinpahad for the optimal utilisation of water allocated for both states in Godavari, Pranahita and Penganga rivers.  The Chief Minister would attend a lunch hosted by Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao at Raj Bhavan before returning to Hyderabad the same day.
