Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday stated that a perfect plan of action was being implemented for transforming the State into a ‘golden Telangana’ with a focus on welfare to help people live with self respect.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion of the State Formation Day celebrations at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad, after taking salutes from various security forces, Chandrashekar Rao said one crore acres would be brought under irrigation by 2022 to reap a golden harvest for the State.
Taking a dig at the previous governments for deliberately attempting to destroy the region for decades, he said the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government would make use of every drop of water from the Krishna and the Godavari rivers despite hurdles being created by the Andhra Pradesh government.
Though Maharashtra and Karnataka
governments were cooperating with regard to Telangana irrigation projects, his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu was trying to stall the projects, but the government was committed to complete Palamur, Dindi, Ranga Reddy and other projects as per schedule, the Chief Minister said.
“I gave PowerPoint Presentation on the irrigation projects in the Assembly as part of our aim to complete the projects to get the rightful share of waters from the Krishna and the Godavari rivers. Redesigning of the projects was taken up to bring more acres of land under cultivation as the previous governments had failed to complete them, besides drawing a plan against the development of Telangana,” Chandrashekar Rao said.
The Mission Bhagiratha will provide safe waters to 6,100 villages by December and 90 per cent of its works will be completed by next year.
