A Telugu woman, Deepthi Vangavolu, was battling for her life after being the victim of a hit-and-run road accident in Denton city of Texas in the United States on April 12, succumbed to her injuries.
Deepthi Vangavolu and her friend, who were about to reach home on foot, were hit by an unidentified vehicle.
Local media had reported that Deepthi sustained a deep head injury, while the other woman sustained grievous injuries and was being operated upon.
Deepthi Vangavolu was pursuing the masters in Computer and Information Science in the
University of North Texas and completed her B Tech from Narasaropeta Engineering College in March 2023. She reportedly hailed from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh.
A press release from the Denton police had put the time of accident at 2.12 a.m. on Saturday (April 12) and that the accident took place in the 2300 block of Carril Al Lago drive, a residential streen near N. Bonnie Brae Stree and W. University Drive.
Witnesses had reported that a dark-colored sedan struck two female pedestrians in the roadway and did not stop.
