In the wake of temporary closure of Terminal T1 of IGI Airport in Delhi due to roof collapse amid heavy rainfall, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Rammohan Naidu has asked all airlines to maintain fare stability to avoid passenger inconvenience.

An advisory has also been issued all airlines to ensure that this situation does not lead to a steep increase in airfare.

One person lost his life and four others were injured after the collapse of the canopy of Terminal-1 of Delhi airport due to heavy rainfall in the National Capital yesterday.

Union Minister Naidu convened a high-level review meeting with key officials in which some important decisions were taken to address the ongoing situation. He emphasized that passenger safety and convenience are of the utmost priority of the government. The Ministry, along with all related agencies, is working tirelessly to ensure a swift resolution to the current challenges and to enhance the overall safety standards of our airports.

A round the clock War Room will be established



under the close monitoring of the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The War Room will ensure the full refund of cancelled flights or provide alternative travel route tickets as per availability. All refunds will be processed within a stipulated time of seven days.

The War Room helpline for Indigo Airline at Terminal T2 is 7 4 2 8 7 4 8 3 0 8 and T3 is 7 4 2 8 7 4 8 3 1 0. For Spicejet, the helpline at T3 is : 0124-4983410, 0124-7101600 and 9 7 1 1 2 0 9 8 6 4.

According to Ministry of Civil Aviation, structural Engineers from IIT Delhi have been asked to immediately assess the incident at Terminal T1 in Delhi. The Ministry added that further examination will be decided based on their initial findings.

During the meeting, Airports Authority of India was directed to issue a circular to all minor and major airports to conduct a thorough inspection of structural strength. These inspections must be completed within the next 2 to 5 days, and the reports are to be submitted to the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
