The body of Chennai tourist R. Thirumani Selvan (25), who died after being hit by rocks hurled by protesters in Kashmir on Monday evening, is expected to reach Chennai around 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old was hit on the nose and forehead in throwing of stones at Narbal on the Srinagar-Gulmarg road in Baramulla district. He was taken to the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital in Srinagar but he died there.
Selvan, who was employed with Accenture in Sholinganallur for the past one-and-a-half years, is the son of Selvi and Rajavelu, who works in
the Ordnance Depot in Avadi.
He has a sister and elder brother, Ravi Kumar, who also works in the same company. The family resides at Karimedu Anna Nagar in Muthapudupet Village, Avadi.
The family of the victim had gone on a tour to Kashmir. “There were four families along with theirs and the tour was arranged by his father’s family. They left Chennai on May 4. But Ravi Kumar did not go with them,” said a police officer.
“The body has left Srinagar for Delhi. It is expected to reach Chennai by 7 p.m,,” said a senior police officer.
