There should be no provision for mercy petition for persons convicted under POSCO Act: President Kovind

President Ram Nath Kovind has said that there should be no provision for mercy petition for the persons convicted under the POCSO Act.

He said Parliament should consider the issue. Mr. Kovind was addressing after the inaugurating the National Conference on Empowerment of Women for Social Transformation at the Brahmakumari’s Headquarter at Mount Abu in Rajasthan yesterday



afternoon. 

Mr. Kovind said that women safety is a serious issue and a lot of work has been done on it, but there is a need of lots of work to be done.

He said that it is the responsibility of every citizen to sensitize sons towards the honour of women. President has said that the social transformation can be possible trough women empowerment.
