A three-day long session of Tamil Nadu Assembly will begin this morning in Chennai. For maintaining social distancing, the venue has been shifted from Fort St George to the spacious Kalaivanar Hall.
All the members of the House were tested for Covid-19 using the RT-PCR kits ahead of the session. The officials and the news persons of the recognised media houses also underwent the test. They revealed that three of the ruling AIADMK legislators and a few officials are positive for the infection. They are undergoing medical treatment. The session is expected to be stormy as the opposition is set to
raise several issues like the Covid-19 management, the NEET exam, the National Education Policy and a host of other matters.
The House on the first day today would pass resolutions expressing condolences over the demise of sitting MLA J.Anbazhagan and MP H. Vasanthakumar and former President Pranab Mukherjee before adjourning for the day. During the next two days, Government businesses are expected to be taken up after Question Hour. Several bills are set to be introduced and passed including the first supplementary budget.
