Three pro-Khalistan terrorists were killed in an encounter led by a joint team of Uttar Pradesh and Punjab Police in Pilibhit district yesterday. The terrorists are believed to be involved in a grenade attack at a police post in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district on December 19.
The police said they had received a tip-off about the suspicious movement of some pro-Khalistani terrorists in the region. The police team tried to nab them but they started
firing at the cops which triggered an encounter. The terrorists were critically injured in the firing and were taken to a hospital in Puranpur for treatment where they were declared dead. The accused, identified as Gurwinder Singh, Virendra Singh and Jasanpreet Singh, belonged to a banned Khalistani organisation.
Two AK-series assault rifles and two Glock pistols were recovered from the scene.
