In Bihar, thunderstorm and lightning have claimed 36 lives in different parts of the state during the past 24 hours. Maximum 19 casualties were reported from eastern parts of the state including Jamui, Banka, Bhagalpur and Munger districts. 

10 people died due to lightning in Aurangabad and Rohtas districts. Four people were killed in Katihar, while three in Sitamarhi and Gaya. 13 people



have also injured in the incident. They have been admitted to local hospitals.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced an ex-gratia of four lakh rupees each to the next of the kin of those killed and ordered free treatment for the injured.

Met department has forecast heavy rain in the state during the next 48 hours.
