Voting began in Punjab and Goa on Saturday morning for the 2017 Assembly elections. The two states are the first of the five to go to polling ahead of Uttar Pradesh, Manipur and Uttarakhand which are being held simultaneously in the months of February and March. 11. Voting for 40 seats in Goa began at 7.00 am and Punjab, which has 117 assembly seats, an hour later. Till 01.02 pm, 53 per cent had cast their vote in Goa and 37 per cent in Punjab. Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is contesting for the first time in both the states.
