President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed new governors for Telangana, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
Most notably, Tamil Nadu state BJP chief Tamilisai Soundararajan has been appointed as Governor of Telangana while former union minister Bandaru Dattatraya will take charge as Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
According to an official communique by the PIB,
The President of India is pleased to make the following appointments/ changes:-



(i) Shri Kalraj Mishra, Governor of Himachal Pradesh is transferred and appointed as Governor of Rajasthan
(ii) Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari as Governor of Maharashtra
(iii) Shri Bandaru Dattatraya as Governor of Himachal Pradesh
(iv) Shri Arif Mohammed Khan as Governor of Kerala
(v)  Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan as Governor of Telangana
The above appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices.
