Tamil Nadu's new chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy will seek a vote of confidence on the floor of the state Assembly today. Mr Palaniswamy, known to be a VK Sasikala loyalist, will seek vote of confidence this morning though he has been given 15 days by the Governor to prove his majority.
After a prolonged political crisis due to the power struggle within the ruling AIADMK,
Governor Vidyasagar Rao invited him to form the Government on Thursday and administered oath of office and secrecy.Chief Minister Palaniswamy faction of AIADMK claims support of 124 MLAs. Ten of the party MLAs have pledged their open support to the rival camp led by former chief minister O Panneerselvam. As one seat in the Assembly is vacant, the required number to win the vote is 117.
