Bihar is celebrating its 113th foundation day today. The state of Bihar was carved out from Bengal presidency during British rule on 22nd of March in 1912. This day is celebrated as Bihar Diwas.
The theme of this years event is Unnat Bihar, Viksit Bihar” to highlight the state’s progress and future potential. Various cultural events, exhibitions, and performances are being held across the state to showcase Bihar’s rich heritage, innovative present, and promising future.
The main event will take place at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, where the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will inaugurate a three-day mega celebration, featuring pavilions from various government departments showcasing Bihar’s development.
The festivities include cultural programs, debates, marathons, morning processions, and memorial
lectures across the state. Government buildings have been illuminated in blue as a mark of respect. A Vyanjan Mela (Food Festival) at Gandhi Maidan is offering traditional Bihari delicacies like Litti Chokha, Khurma, Balushahi, and Makhana, representing the diverse flavors of the state.
The tradition of celebrating Bihar Diwas was initiated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in 2010 to honor the state’s pride and achievements.
Bihar has made remarkable strides in various sectors, including Self-Help Groups (Jeevika Didis), the Ganga Water Uplifting Project, and an extensive road network.
