Today is Tamil New Year Puthandu

Puthandu, also known as the Tamil New Year is being celebrated today to mark the beginning of a new calendar year for the Tamil-speaking community across the globe. Puthandu is observed on the first day of the Tamil month of Chithirai with families coming together and revelling in the festivities.

Festivals mean happiness Cheer and sumptuous food.



Today people visit Temples making a plea for success in their ventures. Tasty traditional breakfast with idli vada payasam followed by a  six taste meal for lunch at home. Mangoes, drumsticks, neem flowers are used in today’s recipes . Mango leaf festoons and a beautiful rangoli welcome the guests in every home.
