A total 113 teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been earmarked for West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar Island. Out of them, 104 teams are deployed on the ground while nine self-contained teams are on high within the states to tackle the situation as Cyclone Yaas is approaching the eastern coast of the country.

India Meteorological Department,  NDRF personnel are conducting awareness drives to persuade people living on the coast line to shift to safer places. NDRF is also assisting the District Administration in the mass evacuation of the localities residing near the sea. The Director General of NDRF is personally monitoring the situation and is in constant touch with the State Administration.
