Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad has said that transforming the BSNL is his top priority.
Addressing a seminar in Mumbai yesterday, Mr Prasad said currently the BSNL has crossed its profit beyond Rs 600 crore and it is expected to post Rs 2100 crore this year.
He said that despite many hurdles, the Public sector undertaking is performing very well due to various policy initiatives like ‘Digital India of the government. He said that the Digital
India is a game changing programme and it is pro-poor. The Minister also briefed about the changing scenario in Postal Department. He informed that 50 companies are ready to partner with the Postal Department.
Mr Prasad said that during next 5 to 7 years, India’s Digital Economy will become a one trillion dollar economy. He also stressed on the importance of cyber security. Underlining the need for Skill Development in this sector he informed that the government is also working on this front.
