With TRS candidate Bhupal Reddy establishing an early lead over Congress candidate Sanjeeva Reddy in the counting of votes in the Narayankhed by-poll in Telangana's Medak district, TRS was closing on victory. Now, the party has emerged victorious in the by-poll by winning with a margin of 53,600 votes.
The by-polls took place due to the death of sitting Congress MLA Krishna Reddy. While TRS is expected to win the Narayankhed Assembly seat, the party winning the

by-polls would be the first for the ruling party to defeat Congress in a seat held by the main Opposition party that earlier won the 2014 elections.
The TRS got 93,076 votes followed by Congress 39,451 and TDP 14,787. The entire success in by-election was being attributed to the efforts of Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao.
