TS Wakf board issued guidelines to be followed during Muharram month advising the community to adhere to them with a view to Covid-19 pandemic.
For the first time in recent years, the council has advised the organizers of the ‘saber’ (water camp) not to set up the camps. Instead, they were asked to make sure that water packets or bottles were distributed during the events. It is also said that food and cooked items should be packed and handed over to the participants in the religious gatherings and that no community food camp should be organized.
The management of various Aashoorkhanas was asked to display the number of persons who can be housed during a particular religious program. Management is also asked to do regular sanitation on the premises and to advise senior citizens and children to stay away from the events as a precaution.
Dr Syed Nisar Hussain Hyder Agha, President, Shia Ulema o Zakireen and member of TS Wakf Council, asked the
community to follow the guidelines issued by the Wakf Council and to follow the guidelines for the dissemination of Covid-19 pandemic. ‘It is necessary that we follow the guidelines and arrange matam, majalis and other customs accordingly. “Make sure that all precautions are taken in the light of the current situation,” he said.
However, the guidelines do not mention the march of the Bibi-ka-Alam confusion that is creating confusion among the Shia community, as several groups of mourners and other people are participating in it. The Bibi-ka-Alam standard is installed on the first day of the Islamic month Muharram at the Bibi ka Alawa in Dabeerpura.
‘The Wakf council is allowed to observe the customs and rituals of Alam’s on the ninth and tenth of the month of Muharram by the Mujawirs, Mutawallis and committee members. That is why the procession of the Bibi ka Alam should be allowed to take off on an elephant, ‘said Syed Ali Jaffery, president, Shia Companion.
