Former finance and external affairs minister Yashwant Sinha said on Friday the "most dangerous" tukde-tukde gang in India consists of two people and "both are in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)".
Yashwant Sinha's tweet has come at a time when the ruling BJP and the opposition are accusing each other of dividing the country over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and creating confusion by misleading people about the Act.
Taking to Twitter, Yashwant Sinha said, "The most dangerous tukde tukde gang in India consists of only two people, Duryodhan and Dusshashan. They are both in BJP. Beware of them."
Earlier, historian Ramachandra Guha, too, had attacked the government over the Citizenship Amendment Act, that seeks to allow illegal immigrants of certain communities from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan to acquire Indian citizenship, saying the real tukde-tukde gang, which aims to divide the nation, is sitting in Delhi.
"The real tukde-tukde gang are the rulers of India sitting in Delhi. They are real batwara people. They are dividing the country not just on religion but also on language and we will resist them non-violently," Ramachandra Guha said.
The BJP, too, had attacked the
Opposition of spreading lies about the new citizenship law and using it to "instigate a civil war in the country", as Union minister Giriraj Singh said.
Giriraj Singh on Thursday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi of trying to instigate a civil war in the country over the issue of CAA.
"What Mughals and Britishers could not do, that Rahul Gandhi, the Congress, the tukde-tukde gang and Asaduddin Owaisi want to do. They want to divide India. They want a civil war in India," Union Minister Giriraj Singh was quoted as saying by news agency.
On Thursday, Home Minister Amit Shah accused the Opposition spoiling the atmosphere in the country, asserting that the time has come to "punish the 'tukde tukde' gang".
"The opposition led by the Congress created confusion about the Citizenship Amendment Bill (now an Act). Delhi saw people coming out on streets over it and the peaceful atmosphere of Delhi was spoiled after a long time," Amit Shah said.
"I want to say it with a lot of responsibility that by misleading Delhi and its people (on the Citizenship Amendment Act or CAA), the opposition spoiled the peaceful atmosphere of Delhi," Amit Shah said on the recent protests.
