The alliance partner Shiv Sena has been reiterating a 50:50 power pact demanding equal power share in the government. The Sena has also demanded a written assurance from the BJP for implementing equal formula for sharing of power before holding talks on staking the claim to form the next alliance government in the state. The BJP has however, asserted that the party will comfortably form the next government taking the Shiv Sena along with it, as it has support of independent MLAs.

BJP spokesperson Shweta Shalini has said the party has the support of 15 Independent MLAs, besides its own 105 MLAs and the Shiv Sena is aware of this. The

BJP's assertion comes amid the Shiv Sena's demand for an equal share in power and the two saffron parties occupying the chief minister's post on a rotational basis.

She said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will continue in the top post in the new government also. The demand by Sena MP Sanjay Raut about power sharing formula came shortly after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and senior Shiv Sena leader Diwakar Raote met state Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari separately, amid the ongoing tussle between the ruling alliance partners over forming the next state government.
