Gandhinagar: In Gujarat, a two day monsoon session of the state assembly will begin today. Apart from government business, the elections of the new Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be held during the session. BJP’s Bhuj MLA Dr. Nimaben Acharya is all set to become the new speaker of the state assembly unopposed. At the other end, the elections for the post of Deputy Speaker will be held between BJP MLA Jethabhai Bharwad and Congress MLA Dr. Anil
Joshiyara.
According to sources, 4 bills are likely to be introduced, discussed and passed during the session. These include Gujarat Professional Medical Education Colleges or Institutions Amendment bill, Gujarat Goods and Services Tax Amendment bill, Gujarat Private Universities Amendment bill and the Indian Partnership (Gujarat Amendment) bill. A resolution on Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav will be passed in the house during the session.
