Two members of the Central Railway Adventure Sports Club on Friday left for a mountaineering expedition to Mount Everest. Central Railways’ General Manager, Naresh Lalwani flagged off the expedition and presented the duo with an Ice Axe, flag of Railway Sports Promotion Board, and a crest of the Central Railway Sports Association.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Lalwani said the expedition aims to create awareness about climate change and global warming. He informed that the Central
Railway Sports Association has 450 active sports persons pursuing forty types of games, while adding that the expedition to scale Mount Everest will be the first of its kind from Railways.
Before this ultimate adventure, Mr. Hemant Jadhav, Chief Office Superintendent, working in the Engineering Branch and Mr. Sandeep Mokashi, Office Superintendent, Electrical branch, had created a record last August when they became the first from the railways to scale the Himalayan peak, Mount Nun.
