In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, security forces yesterday foiled an infiltration attempt by terrorists at Sabura Nala along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Baramulla in north Kashmir and killed two intruders.
According to an official in Chinar Corps, the terrorists attempted to infiltrate the Indian side of the LoC, which led to an exchange of fire with the JAK RIF of the Army. The Army, however, effectively retaliated, resulting in the elimination of two infiltrators. Following the encounter, a thorough search operation was conducted in the area leading to the recovery of warlike stores. Among the seized items were 2 AK
series rifles, 4 grenades and other ammunition.
The official further said that such infiltration attempts have a seasonal periodicity which cannot be generalised. He said that the troops along the Line of Control (LoC) were alert and their swift action led to the foiling of this infiltration bid. The bid was foiled as security forces are on high alert ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
A senior Security Force Officer recently mentioned that the chances of infiltration from across the LoC increase during important events like the upcoming general elections.
