Maharashtra Chief Minister and head of Shiv Sena, Uddhav Thackeray, serenely won the floor test at the state get together on Saturday. The state government had backing of 169 individuals from authoritative get together (MLAs) in the 288-part get together.
The floor test occurred by taking a headcount of the 288 individuals from the Maharashtra get together. The partnership between Shiv Sen, Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have an agreeable dominant part in the gathering with the three gatherings have backing of in any event 154 individuals from administrative get together (MLAs). The union got backing of atleast 15 additional votes from littler gatherings and free applicants.
In the recently concluded assembly elections, Shiv Sena had won 56 seats, NCP got 54 seats and Congress had won 44 seats.
However, political drama continued in Maharashtra as 105 members of legislative assembly (MLAs) of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) walked out of the session when the floor test was taking place. Senior leaders of BJP have accused that the assembly session was unconstitutional.
"All norms are being flouted, this session is unconstitutional that is why we have decided to walkout of the assembly session. The oath taken by MLAs was also
not according to the norms. We will write to the Governor," said BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis.
"This session is unconstitutional and illegal. Appointment of Pro-tem Speaker was also unconstitutional," saidthe former chief minister of Maharashtra.
The turn of events in Maharashtra started after BJP and Shiv Sena failed to reach an understanding after winning the assembly elections. The two former alliance partners had a comfortable majority but they could not agree on power sharing formula for the state government.
"We are going to submit a letter to the Governor asking him to suspend the proceedings of the House, and that the House should follow the Constitution," said Fadnavis.
During the floor test, 2 MLAs of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen(AIMIM), 1 of CPI(M) and 1 of MNS decided not to vote against or in favour of he newly formed alliance government in Maharashtra.
After the trust vote, NCP leaders accused BJP of disturbing the proceedings.
"Oath taking ceremony was conducted, Vidhan Sabha session held and pro tem Speaker appointed with consent of Governor. The floor test was held as per orders of Supreme Court. BJP is only trying to save face," said Nawab Malik, senior leader of NCP.
