The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), the Opposition alliance in Maharashtra, will jointly fight the upcoming state assembly polls, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) founder Sharad Pawar said on Sunday. The seat-sharing talks will commence soon, the veteran leader added.
The MVA, consisting of Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar), Congress and others, is aiming to dethrone the ruling Mahayuti alliance in the upcoming assembly polls scheduled for October or November this year.
Speaking at a press conference, Pawar said, “Our focus is the same. NCP
(Sharadchandra Pawar), Uddhav Thackeray, and Congress will fight together. The seat allocation will be discussed soon. We have three months in hand.”
He also emphasised the collective responsibility of major parties in MVA to safeguard the interests of smaller allies who were part of the coalition during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The MVA put up a stellar performance in the recently-held Lok Sabha elections, winning 31 out of 48 seats. The Congress achieved the highest tally with 13 seats, while Shiv Sena (UBT) secured nine and the NCP bagged eight.
