Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday appealed to all to act responsibly considering the possibility of third wave of Covid-19.

In his address at the inauguration of the online medical conference ‘My Doctor’ organized yesterday by the State’s Covid task force, the Chief Minister informed that the state government has been rapidly increasing health facilities to win the war against the virus and get out of the corona crisis completely.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray warned people not to be complacent and avoid crowding during the festivals as the state government is preparing to deal with a third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. He also urged political parties not to demand reopening of places where crowds cannot be avoided.

Recalling last year’s huge case surge post festival, he justified the government’s move to slowly reopen various activities in the state. He added that wearing a face mask is

important even after vaccination. The CM informed that his government has strengthened the health infrastructure and is putting efforts to increase the oxygen capacity to 3,000 MT from the present level of 1200 to 1400 MT amid the concerns of the third wave.

Chief Minister also appealed to all hospitals to conduct medical audit and ensure every hospital has enough stock of oxygen, beds, medicines, ventilators and other electrical appliances which are in constant use for Covid treatment. While, State’s  Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte has informed that the state government has made all possible preparations to combat the possible third wave.

He said that more than four and a half hundred oxygen plants have been set up in all the government hospitals in the state and the government is increasing the storage capacity of oxygen in many districts, with emphasis being laid on storing enough oxygen for three to four days in each district.
