Mumbai: A day after the Election Commission of India passed an interim order directing the two rival factions to not use the party name Shiv Sena and the bow and arrow symbol till the matter is finally decided, party leader Uddhav Thackeray yesterday said that they have submitted three symbols to the poll body on an immediate basis.
Addressing the people of the state through Facebook live, Uddhav said his party has given an option of three symbols out of which any one symbol can be finalized by the EC. The symbols which Mr. Thackeray has zeroed in are Trishul (Trident), Rising Sun and Mashaal (Torch). He also proposed three names for his political outfit before the Election Commission,
which are (Shiv Sena) Balasaheb Thackeray, (Shiv Sena) Balasaheb Prabodhankar Thackeray and (Shiv Sena) Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray.
He alleged that Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and the BJP are orchestrating in finishing the Shiv Sena, which fought for the pride of Marathi and Marathi speakers.
Going back in time, he said his grandfather Prabhodankar Thackeray had named the political outfit as Shiv Sena way back in June 1966. Uddhav said his rival faction led by Eknath Shinde should go before the people without using his father’s name. He said, the rival faction can form their own party or merge with the BJP.
