UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy is scheduled to arrive in Delhi today. He will primarily hold talks on strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
This visit marks the first high-profile delegation from London since the formation of the Labour Party government under British PM Keir Starmer. Secretary Lammy will meet with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar this evening. Mr Lammy is also expected to hold discussions with Commerce
Minister Piyush Goyal and NSA Ajit Doval, and call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Earlier, during a phone call on July 6, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the British PM Keir Starmer discussed the importance of the living bridge between the UK and India, the 2030 roadmap and agreed there is a wide range of areas across defence, critical and emerging technology and climate change for the two countries to deepen their cooperation on.
