New Delhi: Defence Ministry has been allocated 5.94 lakh crore rupees in Budget 2023-24. This is 13.18 percent of the total budget, a jump of 13 percent over the previous year.
This includes an amount of over one lakh 38 thousand crores for Defence Pensions.
Capital outlay pertaining to modernisation and infrastructure development has
been increased to 1.62 lakh crore rupees.
This is a 57 percent rise since 2019-20.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh termed Union Budget 2023-24 as growth-oriented. He said it will help in achieving the Government’s goal of making India a 5 trillion dollar economy within a few years.
