Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale says the union government is willing to extend support for establishing Old Age Homes in each district of Kerala. Addressing a press conference in Kochi, the Minister urged voluntary organisations to come forward to establish such homes. 

Noting that 1,658 Old Age Homes have been established across the country, of which nine are in Kerala, the Minister



pointed out that 1,720 deaddiction centres including nine in the state have been established with financial assistance from the Ministry.

The Minister assured that he will look into the issues faced by Lakshadweep students regarding receipt of scholarships. He said the government is working towards ending casteism, eliminating social and economic inequalities, and forging unity.
