Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda has stressed to create a world-class drug regulatory framework to match the country’s reputation of Pharmacy of the World. He also emphasized on continuous dialogue with the Pharma and Medical Devices industry to ensure the highest quality of products.
Mr. Nadda yesterday held a review meeting on the regulation of drugs, cosmetics and medical devices. Highlighting the global position of country as the leading producer and exporter of drugs, he stressed on the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) to draw a roadmap, with timeline, to achieve global standards. He said the system should be designed for proper intervention to maintain the
quality of drugs being exported.
He said, the drug regulatory body and the industry should work on highest principles of transparency to ensure that the products manufactured and sold by country meets the highest indices of global quality standards. He further added that focus should be on developing mechanisms that ensure ease of doing business for the drugs industry within the regulatory requirements.
On issues faced by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, the Minister asked the officials and stakeholders to understand their issues and support them to strengthen their capacity and quality of products.
