In Ladakh, the Union Home Ministry is scheduled to convene a meeting of the recently reconstituted 22 member High Powered Committee (HPC) to safeguard the region's unique culture and language. The meeting will be presided over by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai. 

The meeting will include officials from Union Territory of Ladakh, the Home Affairs Ministry, and leaders from Leh's Apex Body (LAB) and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA). The agenda involves discussing measures to safeguard the region's unique culture and language, considering Ladakh's geographical and strategic significance, and addressing demands for constitutional safeguards.

Delhi for the second round of talks initiated by MHA, following a previous meeting in June this year.
 
The Committee expanded from 17 to 22 members and reconstituted on the 30th of November, is focusing on discussions about ensuring land and employment protection for the people of Ladakh, along with measures for the empowerment of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils of Leh and Kargil.
 
Notable members of the Committee from Ladakh include Lieutenant Governor Dr. B. D. Mishra; a Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal; Chief Executive Councillors from Leh and Kargil Councils; leaders from LAB, KDA and the Heads of Religious Groups.
