New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Ashwini Kumar Choubey yesterday held a review meeting over the air pollution situation in Delhi and NCR. The Union Minister reviewed the air pollution situation with the Commission for Air Quality Management- CAQM, the Central Pollution Control Board, and other officials of his Ministry.
Talking to reporters, Mr Choubey said that the Supreme Court's concern over the air pollution level is natural. He said, the suggestion of the Apex Court that there should be no politics over it and stubble burning should
be stopped to control it, is right. He added that directions have already been issued regarding stubble burning and an 8-point action plan as per Stage-IV of the Graded Response Action Plan is already in force in the entire National Capital Region to prevent further deterioration of air quality
Meanwhile, Air Quality Index- AQI in the national capital was recorded at around 400 in the evening which is in the very poor category. An AQI between 201 and 300 is considered poor, 301 to 400 very poor, and 401 to 500 severe.
