New Delhi: Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri has said that the Government is focusing a lot on technology implementation in urban and other development projects. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi yesterday, 

Mr Puri said the Government is coming up with a plan for last-mile connectivity and is going to introduce 10 thousand e-buses for better interconnectivity across the country with a population range of three lakh to 40 lakh. He also said that the Government has achieved the milestones in providing houses to every citizen under PM Awas Yojana.
 
The Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri today said that the investments in the urban sector have seen a significant rise from one lakh 78 thousand 53 crore rupees between 2004 and 2014 to 18 thousand seven thousand 101 crore rupees in the last nine years. Speaking at the launch of the updated



e-booklet Transforming Urban Landscape in New Delhi, the Minister informed that the country is on the path to becoming the world’s second-largest metro network system. 

He said, about 872 kilometers of metro lines are operational in 20 different cities already and about 988 Kms of metro rail projects are under construction as well. Briefing on Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban ( PMAY-U), Mr Puri informed that so far, the scheme has achieved a milestone of sanctioning 1.19 crore houses. He highlighted that over 94 lakh houses under PMAY-U are in the name of women or joint ownership. 

The Minster also articulated that the Sawachh Bharat Mission (U) has also led to 100 percent access to toilets with the construction of 67.10 lakh Household Toilets and 6.52 lakh Community and Public Toilet Seats.
