In Arunachal Pradesh, Union Minister for Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal yesterday laid the foundation stones of four infrastructure projects worth 53 crore rupees at the North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Folk Medicine Research at Pasighat in East Siang District. Inaugurating the projects, Mr. Sonowal said that the Government is working to develop the institute as a global hub of folk medicine.

The Minister said various initiatives are being taken for the protection and promotion of the traditional healing system of the tribal people



of the northeastern region through scientific research and documentation. 

Mr. Sonowal remarked that traditional medicine is still occupying a large position in the international market. The Union Minister said that the traditional healing system using folk medicines is popular in 170 countries and more than 900 startups have been developed in the country so far.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema  Khandu was also present on the occasion.
