Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti has convened a meeting of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu ministers today to find a political solution to the "impasse" over Cauvery water dispute. The meet has been convened in line with the Supreme Court's order on tuesday to facilitate a meeting of the executive heads of the two warring riparian states with the Centre to resolve the issue.
Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah left for New Delhi today morning to attend the meeting. Karnataka Minister in charge of water resources M B Patil and Chief secretary will also be present in the meeting. The State Cabinet had taken



a decision yesterday to defer release of Cauvery water to Tamilnadu till after this meeting with the Union Minister. 
The Supreme Court had directed the state to release 18000 Cusecs of water for three days starting yesterday. The chief minister of Tamil Nadu J.Jayalalithaa has directed the Minister for Public Works Edapaddi K Palaniswami, Chief Secretary Dr P Rama Mohana Rao, Public Works Department Principal Secretary S K Prabakar and the Cauvery Technical Cell Chairman R Subramaniam to represent Tamil Nadu in the meeting. J. Jayalalithaa is not coming to attend the meet due to health reasons.
