Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Dr Virendra Kumar launched the Social Empowerment Camp in Bulandshahr yesterday. On this occasion, Dr. Virendra Kumar also virtually inaugurated the camps being organized in 75 aspirational blocks of the country. The objective of these camps is to empower disabled persons and make them self-reliant. Under the scheme more than nine thousand pre-identified disabled beneficiaries were provided free assistive devices of various categories under the ADIP scheme.
On this occasion, the Union Minister said that the Government of India has given
scholarships worth crores of rupees to more than 2.5 lakh disabled students under the scholarship scheme, which has benefited many youth of the state also.
He said that the government has implemented the Cochlear Implant Scheme for children who are deaf and dumb from birth and whose age is 5-6 years. Under the scheme financial help of up to Rs 6 lakh is provided by the government. Apart from this, the Union Minister also administered the oath of cleanliness to all the people present at the function in view of the Swachhta Pakhwada.
