Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off the inaugural trip of the new Bandra Terminus—Madgaon Bi-Weekly Train from Borivali railway station yesterday. 

In his address via video conferencing, Mr. Goyal mentioned that the long-standing demand for a train service from the western suburbs to Konkan has now been fulfilled. He emphasised that the budget outlay for Maharashtra in FY 2024-25 is 15,940 crore rupees, which is 13 times more than the amount allocated before 2014. He also informed me that, in the last 10 years, Indian Railways has laid approximately 1,830 km of railway tracks in Maharashtra, which is more than the entire railway network of Sri Lanka.
 
Regarding ongoing projects in Mumbai, Mr. Vaishnaw stated that 12 infrastructure projects are under execution in the Mumbai region at a cost of 16,240 crore rupees. This year, Indian Railways is also running 342 Ganpati Special



trains.
 
Mr. Vaishnaw noted that this regular train will provide direct connectivity from the western suburbs to the Konkan region. He mentioned that the train is already receiving a tremendous response and requested people to avail themselves of this new service.
 
The regular run of Train No. 10115 Bandra Terminus—Madgaon Express will commence on the 4th of next month. It will depart from Bandra Terminus every Wednesday and Friday at 6:50 am and will reach Madgaon at 10:00 pm on the same day. Similarly, the regular run of Train No. 10116 Madgaon-Bandra Terminus Express will commence on 3rd of next month. It will depart from Madgaon every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:40 am and will arrive at Bandra Terminus at 11:40 pm on the same day. En route, this train will halt at Borivali, Vasai Road, Bhiwandi Road, Panvel, Roha, Veer, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavli, Sindhudurg, Sawantwadi Road, Thivim, and Karmali stations in both directions.
