Union Power Minister Manohar Lal directed the officials to expedite the work related to the construction of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Memorial at Lohgarh in Yamunanagar district. He directed to expedite the work to construct the world class heritage memorial at the earliest.
He was jointly chairing the meeting of Lohgarh Project Development Committee with Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini at Chandigarh today. Union Minister Mr Manohar Lal is the Chief Patron of the Committee, while Chief Minister Mr Naib Singh Saini is its Chairman.
After the meeting, the Union Minister said that the construction of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Memorial
will mainly focus on his biography, which will reflect the heroic saga of his bravery and sacrifice. He said that it has been suggested in the meeting that the memorial should also have a museum dedicated to the battles fought by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and other Sikh Gurus against the Mughals across the country.
He said that the project will be constructed in two phases. The first phase will cost about 74 crore rupees. Mr Manohar Lal said that the state government has also decided to set up a grand Sikh Museum dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Sikh culture on three acres of land at Pipli in Kurukshetra.
