A 15-year-old minor girl was allegedly graped by police constable atop a police outpost in Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh on Friday night.
After hearing about this incident, the girl's father died of cardiac arrest. The body was later sent for postmortem report. The girl's family alleged that the constable saw her when she left her house to use the toilet on Friday night, dragged her to their quarters near the police station and raped her. The teenager has undergone a medical examination.
The incident came to light after the villagers saw her in the rooftop of the constable's home and being allegedly raped by the constable.
The villagers then raised alarm and rescued the girl and caught the cop. It is learnt that the constable Dharam, posted at the outpost which comes under the purview of Revati police station in Gopal Nagar of the district was serving there for more than a year.
According to the villagers, the girl was called by the constable to his home, after which he raped her. A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of IPC following a complaint by victim's uncle and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was also imposed on the accused. He was sent to jail. Further investigation is on in the case.
