Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked officials to intensify the rescue and relief operations. The Chief Minister is himself visiting the districts where the flood situation is grim and reviewing the flood situation.
After Etawaha and Auraiya districts, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath yesterday visited flood-affected Hamirpur and Jalaun districts where Betwa Kane and Yamuna rivers are wreaking havoc and many villages are marooned. Because of the release of water into Yamuna river from Kota barrage and Betwa river from Mata Tila dam more than 90 villages are affected in Hamirpur district only.
The Chief Minister asked officials to make necessary arrangements for the people affected by the
flood.
He instructed that at least one boat should be made available in each village and there must be arrangements for the security of women in relief camps. Almost all major rivers are flowing above the danger mark and Ganga and Yamuna rivers particularly have inundated the low-lying areas in Prayagraj Varanasi, Ghazipur and Ballia district.
In Varanasi teams of NDRF and SDRF have been pressed into rescue operations where thousands of people are affected from flood. In some low-lying areas the first floor of houses are submerged into flood water forcing people to either take shelter on the rooftops or flee from their homes.
